In our vaishnavam sampradayam, Yamunimunigal ruled as a king in turn who served as Acharya wanted to seek Ramanujam as next Acharyan but he was not able to meet him.

So he decided to designate 5 responsibility  to 5 of his students to teach Ramanujam  the designated topics as His teacher 

Periya Nambi was given responsibility of Panchasamaskaram and dhvayam manthiram delivery

Thirukotayur Nambi was given responsibility of teaching ‘Thirumanthram and charama slokam’

Periya ThirumalaiNambi  was given responsibility of educating Ramayanam

Thirumalaiandan was given responsibility of teaching  Nammazhwar’s ‘Thiruvaimozhi’ along with meaning 

Alzhwar thiruvaranga perumal Arayar , with responsibility of rest of 3000 pasurams (poems),music play in tamizh 

Thirumalaiandan’s actual name was Gyanapornar ,he belonged to Azhagar temple’s Thirumaliruncholai .One of his ancestor ‘Kannaukkiniyan’ Once Malayalam robbers came to rob Kallazhagar’s beauty and power,Kannukkiniyan evaded the incident and got the name Thirumalaiandan. Who ever followed him had the same name . Thirukoshtiyur Nambi told Ramanujam that we should learn Thiruvaimozhi from Thirumalaiandan .RAmanajum requested Thumalaiandan and he agreed.

While explaining Thiruvaimozhi Ramanujam let down his head so Thirumalaiandan asked why?

This Pasuram might have this meaning too ? He asked Thirumalaiandan. Thirumalaiandan didn’t like this but continued with his explanation .This happened many times like one day Thirumalaiandan said “Ariya kalathulla adimai kann anbu sevithu ariya mamaiya thadiyene veithayal’ ,he explained that In my younger age I was taught to do lot of service but what is use when I have to step back into this materialistic world -this is how Nammazhwar is feeling bad .

Again Ramanujam was not convinced so Thirumalai andan asked him his interpretation .

Ramanujam said “The previous and next pasurams depict happiness so this pasuram cant depict sadness what I think is Nammahwar is happy that he got into service at a young age itself.”

Despite of convinced with Ramanujam’s explanation Thirumalaiandan didn’t accept outwardly and told Ramanujam to stop coming as he is already aware of Thiruvaimozhi.

On hearing this Thirukoshtiyur Nambi goes to see Thirumalaiandan and asks him reason behind stopping Ramanujam ? Thirumalaiandan says “What ever I say he has a opinion of his own and he already knows everything .” For that Thirukoshtiyur nambi says “Lord Rama knew everything yet he went to Vashishtar for knowledge,Lord Krishna ,who delivered Bhagawat Geeta took his lessons from Shantimani munivar likewise Ramanujam knows everything  yet he came to you so that tradition of teacher and student relationship should not go extinct.” This responsibility which was given to us by Alavanthar gave us an opportunity to be extremely happy.

Alavanthar ,In Charama sloka 3 folded fingers , Ramanujam  said he will fullfill all 3 wishes of Alavanthar and 3 fingers unfolded immediately . So what ever meaning Ramanujam says is like from Alavanthar’s mind .Rest of the pasuram’s too Alavanthar means the same .So you have to restart the lessons for Ramanujam, Immediately the lessons restarted .Thirumalai andan was surprised about how Ramanujam knew the meanings without hearing from Alavanthar ?

Ramanujam said “I always meditated upon Alavanthar I acquire this knowledge only like that ,Am I not his Ekalavyan?”On hearing this Thirumalaiandan became Ramanujam’s fan and followed him everywhere and made his son Sundaratholidayan also as Ramanujam's student.

Just like Thirumalaiandan Did I go around RAmanujam or did i go around perumal like Him ,what rights do I have to be in this place ? says Thirukolur Pen  Ramanujam says “very nicely said ,what are you going to talk about now? “

“Shulravu kondeno Thirukoshtiyur polae” 

This sweet girl is saying things about Ramanujam to Himself ,He is listening to all the things with such a humility just like Perumal.
